Demystifying A Cat That Looks Like Husky Dog

Have you ever come across a cat that looks like husky dog and for a moment you were confused if it’s a cat or a dog?

In the animal breeding world, so much breeding has happened between dogs and cats.  Today we have almost every breed crossed with another and the results just keep getting better. It is possible to come across breeds that have been crossed between cats and dogs, who would have thought this could happen.

Some of these crosses are very common while others are very rare.  So here are some of the most unusual and interesting crossbreeds of cats and dogs.

The History Of Crossing Dogs And Cats

The first recorded cross between a cat and a dog was in 1780 when a cat was mated with a dog. The offspring of this mating was named after its mother as a result of it being the first recorded case of a cat having kittens that looked like husky dogs. This cat was named a husky-cat or husky-toy-cat.

The next recorded cross between a cat and a dog was in 1828 when a cat was mated with a dog. This cat was named a husky-dog or husky-puppy-cat.

In 1841 a cat was mated with a dog to produce a litter of ten kittens. These were the first recorded cases of purebred cats that were produced from a cat mating with a dog. The offspring of this mating was named after the mother of the litter as a result of it being the first recorded case of a cat having kittens that looked like a cross between a husky and a collie. This cat was named as a husky collie cat.

In 1844 two cats were mated with a dog. The offspring of this mating was called a mixed breed. This was the first recorded case of a cat mating with a dog to produce kittens that were not purebred cats.

In 1845 three cats were mated with a dog. The offspring of this mating was called a mixed breed. This was the first recorded case of a cat mating with a dog to produce kittens that were not purebred cats. In 1846 two cats were mated with a dog. The offspring of this mating was called a mixed breed.  And the history continues as many more cats were bred with dogs.

A Cat That Looks Like Husky Dog

Many types of cat looks like a husky dog. They include:

Himalayan breed

This breed is native to the Himalayas and can be found in countries like India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Tibet. They have long hair, are very muscular, and have a coat that looks like long hair making it resemble a husky dog.

Persian breed

This breed is also native to the Himalayas and is also a cat that looks like a husky dog.  The hair on their body is short and they are muscular.  They have a white coat with black spots.

The Siamese cat breed

The Siamese cat is very beautiful and comes in two types.  One has the standard coat of Siamese cats and another has a long silky coat.  The first type is a bit less common than the second one.

Siamese Cats can be found in different colors such as white, cream, chocolate, or even some mixed colors.  These cats are highly active and playful.  They are friendly and loyal to their owners.

Abyssinian breed

It is a medium-sized cat with a long, sleek, silvery coat. This breed was developed in the late 1960s in Ethiopia to produce a cat that was suitable for use as an outdoor pet. The Abyssinian is a medium-sized cat, with a short, muscular body and a thick, silky coat.

The coat has a high degree of luster and is glossy on the back. It is long on the face and legs and should not be trimmed. The ears are erect, pointed, and rounded at the tip.

Birman breed

The Birman is a small, shorthaired, muscular cat with a round face and bright eyes.  The coat has a distinctive waved pattern, which varies from light to dark depending on the color. The ears are rounded and carried close to the head. The tail is bushy and slightly curled.

Bombay breed

The Bombay cat is a medium-sized cat with a silvery or golden coat. It has a round face and broad, short legs. The ears are rounded and held upright. The tail is curled over the back and is set low on the body. The Bombay is often used as a show cat. British Shorthair breed.

The British Shorthair

The British shorthair is a small, shorthaired cat with a pointed face and large eyes. It has a bushy tail that is carried low. This breed was developed in England.

Carnarvonshire breed

The Carnarvonshire is a medium-sized cat with a long, silky coat and a long, straight tail. The ears are large and rounded at the tip. The coat should not be trimmed. The Carnarvonshire was developed in the United Kingdom.

Chausie breed

The Chausie is a small, muscular, long-haired cat with a pointed face, a short, thick tail, and a long, broadhead. The ears are rounded and carried close to the head. This breed was developed in Germany.

In summary

A cat that looks like a husky dog may not necessarily have the same looks but may have the same characteristics, temperaments, or color.  The only thing that could be used to differentiate between a husky dog and a husky cat breed is their coat. Huskies are known for having long coats. However, if you want to breed a cat version of a husky, you can do so.
